Origin: Japan, Shizuoka Prefecture
Flavor: Cooked Spinach, Delicate Sweetness, Clean Vegetal Notes
This Fukamushi Sencha comes from the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The Kakegawa region is renowned throughout Japan for its high quality deep steamed Sencha. This deep steaming preserves the amino acids in the tea from converting to polyphenols, resulting in a more umami rich tea without much bitterness. However, this style of Sencha is noticeably and stylistically more broken than other Sencha teas. This Fukamushi Sencha is made solely from the prized Asatsuyu cultivar, which is best known as the Gyokuro cultivar. This tea captures the aromas of a summer sea breeze, boasting zero bitterness, a delicate sweetness, a smooth texture on the tongue, and a clean vegetal taste.
